Chimo Taekwondo

Respect ~ Honour ~ Discipline

About the time that Master Doug Large was training for his 2nd Dan Black Belt test the notion of opening his own Taekwondo club emerged. After a great deal of reflection he decided that “I didn’t want to wake up one morning and regret not having given it a try”.

A lengthy search of possible locations around the HRM led to the decision to open the club in the community of Spryfield. And what an excellent choice that has proven to be given the degree of support and participation the club has received over the years.

Built on the truest philosophies of Taekwondo and following the motto of Respect ~ Honour ~ Discipline, the club has seen thousands of students pass through the doors over the years. Some have stayed for a short time and others have stayed for life.

Initially the club operated as a full-time, highly competitive entity with classes 6 days a week and participation in many tournaments and events. Today the pace is more manageable but no less dedicated to the best martial arts training available. The standards for advancement are among the highest around and the training provided demands the intensity and challenge needed to achieve those goals.

We proudly welcome anyone wishing to be a part of the Chimo family. We are honoured to have people of all shapes and sizes and abilities, from many parts of the world, of all religions and beliefs and all walks of life as part of the club community.

Chimo Taekwondo is a proud member of Taekwondo Nova Scotia and a member in good standing with Taekwondo Canada.
